This page describes how CareerWharf looks after personal information. CareerWharf is a recruitment service based in Kingscliff, New South Wales, that puts applicants across Australia in touch with employers offering home-based work. The website is careerwharf.com and our email address is careers@careerwharf.com.
We follow the Australian Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and we have tried to keep this explanation short and readable.
careerwharf.com does not have its own application form yet. Instead, people get in touch with HR on WhatsApp or write to us by email. We receive only what you decide to send, which commonly includes:
Before any form is added to the site, this page will be updated to set out each question it contains.
CareerWharf does not purchase contact lists or collect applicant details from social media. If an employer we introduced you to lets us know the outcome, for example that a role has been filled, we may record that so we can keep you informed.
When you open a page, our hosting provider automatically records technical information including the IP address, browser, operating system, requested page and the date and time. These records help us keep the site secure and working. We do not use them to identify you personally.
Please never send CareerWharf a password, a verification or one-time code, internet banking details or a copy of an identity document. We do not request these through WhatsApp or email. If a message asks you for them in our name, do not reply and forward it to careers@careerwharf.com.
We use your information to respond to you, describe the roles and training, understand which arrangement would suit you best and, when you ask us to, introduce you to an employer. We keep a short history of our conversation so that we can pick up where we left off.
CareerWharf does not sell personal information or trade it with marketing companies. We do not send you promotions for unrelated services. Your details only go to the employer you agreed to, and to no other employer unless you give us permission first.
You will know the name of the employer before any introduction is made. With your agreement, we share the information the employer needs to consider you, usually your name and mobile number. After that, the employer is responsible for the information it holds under its own privacy obligations.
We rely on the following providers to operate the website and communicate with applicants:
If we begin using another provider that handles applicant information, we will add it here before doing so.
We may disclose information when Australian law, a court order or a valid request from a government agency requires it, or where disclosure is reasonably necessary to lessen a serious threat to someone’s safety.
Messages to HR are only ever sent by you. Tapping a WhatsApp link opens the app but sends nothing on its own. Once you press send, we receive your message together with your WhatsApp profile name and number.
There are no advertising cookies or analytics scripts on careerwharf.com at present. Your browser might store small technical files needed for the pages to load and display. We will list any measurement tools on this page before we introduce them.
We may run online advertisements for CareerWharf. No advertising pixels or conversion tags are installed on the site today. If that changes, we will publish the tag identifiers here, we will keep names and phone numbers out of tracking events, and we will not use enhanced conversions, Customer Match or remarketing lists built from applicant information.
Our providers, including Cloudflare, Google and WhatsApp, may store or process data outside Australia, such as in the United States or Europe. These companies publish their own security and privacy commitments.
We hold message and email records for up to 12 months from our last contact with you and then delete them. Server logs are kept for no more than 30 days, and backup copies may take up to a further 30 days to expire.
Only CareerWharf staff who work on applications can view your messages. We protect our accounts with strong passwords and two-step verification wherever the provider supports it. Because no system is entirely secure, please avoid sending sensitive information we have not asked for.
A copy of your WhatsApp conversation remains on your phone, and any employer we introduced you to keeps its own records. Deleting our copy does not remove those.
You may request access to the information we hold, ask for corrections or ask for deletion by emailing careers@careerwharf.com. We will reply within 30 days. If you decide not to continue, we will stop using your information, although we cannot retrieve details that were already passed to an employer with your consent.
A real person reviews every application. CareerWharf does not use automated systems to approve or reject applicants.
Our roles are for adults aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone younger.
If you are concerned about how CareerWharf has handled your information, email careers@careerwharf.com and describe what happened. We will investigate and send you a written response explaining our findings and next steps.
If you think someone you know would enjoy working with us, send them a link to the site instead of forwarding their details. They can then read this page and contact HR themselves.
We will revise this page whenever our handling of information changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
